What’s on The Ballot Tuesday?

By. Neil Williamson, President

For anyone who has been living under a rock, tomorrow is Election Day.  Here in Virginia, the second Tuesday after the first Monday in November – EVERY YEAR- is Election Day.

Here are the sample ballots for the Central Virginia region:

Albemarle County Sample Ballot

Charlottesville City Sample Ballot

Fluvanna County Sample Ballot

Greene County Sample Ballot

Louisa County Sample Ballot

Nelson County Sample Ballot

While the Free Enterprise Forum is non partisan and focuses on Central Virginia’s local governments, we are not blind regarding the huge impact of federal elections.

We have often used the #ElectionsMatter.  This election cycle our Commonwealth is again blessed to have contested elections in every congressional district. Contested elections make better elected officials.  Such contests provide the opportunity to test the mettle of arguments and political philosophies.  With the country evenly split on so many issues, pundits of all stripes are predicting the election will be determined by voter enthusiasm as measured by voter turnout.

Diving into the Virginia Department of Elections archives, 2018 (the last off year election cycle), Virginia had just less than 60% of registered voters cast a ballot.  Locally we did better than that.

imageIs Central Virginia poised to repeat the strong 2018 voter turnout?

Every election year (which is every year) is different.  All I know is that Virginians are given the opportunity every year to make their political voice heard.   Many elections have been decided  by those whose supporters are most energized to vote and get out the vote (GOTV).

I do hope to see you at the polls on Tuesday.

Respectfully Submitted,

Neil Williamson, President
